A Trinidadian childhood and English heritage has indulged our passion for delicious food & drinks.
The Company name had to represent the fact that everything is homemade. My mother lived in Woodford and I lived on Warner Road and so Woodford & Warner was formed. When I did a web search to register the Company name, it brought up a map of Port of Spain in Trinidad where Woodford and Warner Streets intersect. It is a fitting association and a remarkable coincidence since my father was born and raised in Port of Spain and many of the products are derived from Trinbagonian (Trinidad & Tobago) cooking.
I was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago until the age of 10. My family moved to Manchester, England in 1985 and I returned to Trinidad to do my A Levels in 1989. Thereafter, I attended and graduated from the University of Manchester with a BSc in Honours Chemistry in 1995. I spent 18 years in the Retail Sector but decided to pursue my passion after having a family.
Woodford & Warner manufacture premium Sorrel products which contain no additives or preservatives and their superior flavour and quality can be attributed to the use of natural ingredients. Sorrel is the Caribbean name given to the calyx of the Hibiscus Sabdariffa flower. It is also the name of the drink made from this part of the flower and all other products of the same flavour.
For over 23 years I have been making Sorrel and I developed a Sorrel Sorbet in 2012. I founded the company in 2013 and launched these two products.
In January of 2014 the Sorrel Drink was added to the to the range of products and in July of 2014 the Agave Range was developed and launched so we now have a comprehensive offering. The Agave range contains Organic Agave Syrup which is kinder to the body and less calorific. This has evolved to become the All Natural range which is free from artificial additives and preservatives. In Summer of 2015 we introduced the Sorrel & Ginger range. Our newest products are the Jamaican Ginger Sorrel drink, a very spicy version of Sorrel which delivers the heat of conventional Ginger Beer but has been incredibly popular because it is not carbonated. In April of 2016 we launched the Sorrel Jelly at Partridges, Duke of York Square and we are delighted to have been awarded a Great Taste Award 2016 for this product.
Currently, we are expanding the range of ices. Reminiscing about my Trinbagonian childhood, specifically eating mangoes at home with my father, lead to the development of our Julie Mango ice cream which has just been awarded a single star at Great Taste 2016. Our second flavour is the Soursop ice cream which is another Caribbean classic. These are available at certain Woodford & Warner events and can be made to order. By the Spring of 2017, we will have another 2 West Indian favourites!
